So here you are…living out your life…trying your best to show up and be present for an ever expanding list of responsibilities…It can feel truly overwhelming. Sure, sometimes we can do some good for ourselves by taking things off our plates or setting different boundaries…but often the task we are faced with is to figure out how we can rise to the occasion and bring the very best of ourselves to this life. So what’s in your way right now? What’s preventing you from embodying more of your Self energy and feeling your best? Is it fear? Is it grief? Is it pain so old it feels like it’s always been there? Our internal world is full of so many different parts that try to get our attention in any way they can…is there something inside of you that’s needing to be cared for?

I often describe the therapeutic space as a laboratory of sorts where we can experiment with feeling things out and saying them out loud in a setting completely free of judgements or reactions. Through the Internal Family System approach, I invite my clients into the practice of holding curiosity towards their internals worlds…so we can hear the stories and the pain that our parts are holding and, along the way, helping these parts to let go of things. When we do this, our parts soften and make room for us to access our Self-energy…the core of our being and the wellspring of courage, compassion, calmness, creativity, and many other qualities.

Matt is a Registered Psychotherapist and a Saint-Paul University graduate with a Master’s degree in Counselling and Spirituality. From 2019 to 2023, Matt worked in addiction care at the community level, supporting some of Ottawa’s most vulnerable populations. These experiences have instilled in Matt an ability to remain grounded, curious, and compassionate in the face of crisis and complexity.

Values-based therapy

Everyone is different, so we will work together to find ways to help you live the life you want based on the values that are important to you.

Identifying your values is a first step towards living your most authentic life.

How does this help you?

This helps you go beyond simply surviving your days, and encourages you to build a long-term sense of meaning and purpose.

My goal is to provide a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and seen. Having a strong therapeutic relationship is key, so it is my hope that a foundation of trust can be formed so that you feel comfortable discussing any of the challenges you may be facing.

High-level competitive swimming is what shaped and structured my life for many years…I even got to share a warm-up lane with Michael Phelps once…when it all blew up, I eventually found my way to rock climbing, which quickly grew into a passion.

So when I’m not supporting clients, or wrangling three young kids, or injured (exasperated eye roll), I’m out connecting with a wonderful community of climbers and trying to send hard boulder problems.

“What if…there wasn’t anything wrong with you or me or anyone…and that we all just have these parts inside of us trying to be helpful and who sometimes don’t quite get it right…? What if we started with this kind of assumption…?”
