Have you ever felt overwhelmed by your responsibilities- trying your best to get organized, yet still finding it nearly impossible to start an important task or assignment?

Or perhaps you’ve recently received an ADHD diagnosis and are unsure what it means for you moving forward. You may find yourself reflecting on your childhood and adult life through an entirely new perspective.

I am passionate about supporting individuals at various stages of life as they learn to manage ADHD.  With experience working in academic settings, I have helped university students develop personalized strategies to improve organization, time management, overall wellbeing, and reduce the ever-tempting cycle of procrastination!  When deadlines and exams pile up, simply functioning can feel daunting.  You don’t have to face this alone!

I also believe it is essential to explore what it means to receive an ADHD diagnosis later in life, particularly for women.  Hormonal changes can significantly influence how ADHD symptoms present, and understanding this impact is crucial.  While a new diagnosis can be empowering, it may also bring complex emotions that take time to process.

My goal is to collaborate with you to achieve your therapeutic goals and to support you as you navigate the challenges or barriers standing in the way of your life’s ambition.

Allison is a Registered Psychotherapist and a Yorkville University graduate with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology.

She has over twenty-one years of experience working in emergency services, where she is a manager within the 9-1-1 communications section with the Ottawa Police Service.  She has a deep understanding and appreciation for the impact of PTSD and trauma as it relates to such dynamic work environments.

Ongoing education is incredibly important to Allison, as it ensures she remains informed about evolving research and best practices in the field. Allison is currently completing advanced training in women’s mental health across the lifespan, with a particular focus on the psychological impact of hormonal shifts.

She has also pursued specialized trauma training, including work with PTSD. Allison intentionally integrates strong evidence-based mindfulness strategies into her practice to support nervous system regulation, emotional awareness, and interoception, while promoting healing in a safe environment.

After work you will always find me combining my two loves, walking my dog Mabel and murder/crime podcasts! Nothing beats a quiet walk in the snow, while hearing justice get served on Forensic files or Dateline! (lol)

All kidding aside, I do love walking and being in the outdoors year-round.  I find it does ground me and brings me a sense of peace and calm, no matter how challenging my work-day has been.

Yes, this can still be achieved while listening to murder mystery. ;)
